Lack of motivation is the number one reason that most small businesses fail. After the honeymoon period, when everything seems fresh, alive and possible, reality sets in.
Running your own business isn’t necessarily difficult but it is challenging and time consuming. You need to be flexible and consistent whilst being daring but not foolhardy. This is only possible with motivation. The fly in the ointment is that motivation naturally ebbs and flows.
For your business to succeed and thrive, you need to learn to keep your motivation burning at a constant rate. Accomplishing this takes a lot of focus and perseverance. That’s why I suggest you throw in some magick. You can do it without, but why would you when so much is at stake?
Here’s three great ways to use magick to boost your motivation when it starts to wane. Although each of these is capable of jolting your motivation when you need it, you’ll get maximum voltage from combining the three.
This first one is potent, so powerful that it’s used with great success on failing marriages. If it has the potential of bringing two hurting, estranged people back together, imagine what it could do for your business motivation. It’s simply this, remember why you fell in love in the first place.
On low motivational days, spend 15 minutes reliving the reasons you started your business. In a comfortable position with your eyes closed, remember the excitement and passion that flowed through you. What were your short and long term dreams? Allow them to play over and over in your mind and re-experience those feelings of love and desire.
If after a couple of days this technique alone doesn’t boost your motivation to the needed levels, add this second visualisation technique (they flow seamlessly together).
Once you’ve spent 15 minutes remembering why you just had to start your own business, spend an additional 15 thinking about all the things its success will bring you. Your self confidence will increase, you’ll learn new skills and improve on old ones and you’ll have the finances to better your position in life as well as those of others. As you imagine each of these, mentally go into vivid detail and allow the emotions attached to each to bubble up. By the time 30 minutes is up, you’ll be coursing with motivation.
Visualising is brilliant and absolutely necessary to make the magick happen. However, unless it’s backed with positive, affirmative actions, it’s all for nought.
With that in mind, my last offering for the day is, “Create a supportive environment.” To do this effectively, you must concentrate on two things.
The first is the people you surround yourself with on a regular basis. If you want to feel motivated, you need to hang around motivated people. Gathering with friends and acquaintances to discuss grievances is nothing more than a pity party and will do nothing for keeping you pumped.
Additionally, whether you work from home or a traditional office, it’s important your physical environment works as a catalyst for your success. It should contain objects and mementos that remind you of your dreams, aspirations and goals. Furniture and equipment should be minimal to allow clear thought. Colours should promote peace and growth (think white, soft blues and soft greens).
Faithfully use these three magickal, business motivation boosts and you’ll be amazed at the difference you’ll feel in your motivational levels.
Give them a try and let me know your success stories.
Until next time.
